The Value of Esther’s Friends

HEARTS OVERFLOWING: CALLING FOR SOME SUPERWOMEN

We Do a Lot With a Little

Global Heart Ministries!  People tend to assume any organization with the word “global” in its name must be huge.  When it comes to reach, GHM certainly qualifies, because of the millions who tune into our programs through satellite broadcasting.  However, there’s only a handful of people who are actually on-staff with the ministry, around ten in total, according to how you count them.  (We also have a Board of Directors and an advisory board who are critical to our success, but are not considered staff.)

One of the ways we stretch our assets is through volunteerism.  Around the world, from home pastors in our target countries to guests on our programs, to the ladies who fold our newsletters, GHM thrives through the efforts of our volunteers – and when it comes to volunteers, Esther’s Friends are the bomb.

Lori’s very elegant table

A Little Background

Though volunteers have been the backbone of this organization from the very beginning, last year we decided to formalize their role.  We had a tea hosted by volunteers that we called The Open Hearts High Tea.  From that we developed a list of about forty-five women who said they were interested in volunteering with us and we dubbed them Esther’s Friends in honor of the women who fasted with Queen Esther before she went to the king with her request to save the Jewish nation from annihilation.

Hooray for Esther’s Friends!

If you think 45 women doesn’t sound like a lot, then you’re forgetting how few people we have on staff.  The role of Esther’s Friends in our ministry is critical.

One of the most important roles these volunteers play in our organization is their willingness to pray for us.  Almost half these women agreed to receive a weekly prayer update and pray for our needs.  We know those prayers are effective, because we see the results every day.

To describe all the other things these women have done for us since the tea would take a whole lot more than one blog.  Yes, they hand address invitations, fold newsletters, and help us with other clerical work, but that’s the tip of the iceberg.

When events come along they sponsor tables, help us play hostess, find silent auction donations, assist with set-up and break-down, and just about anything else we need help with.  When we’re getting ready for a video shoot, they bring in food, host our guests in their homes, and help out on the crew.  Whatever the project, when we put out the call, we get the help we need.

There’s Room for You

While we are grateful for every single woman who devotes her time and energy to this ministry, in spite of the many other things claiming their time and attention, the truth is, the scope of our ministry gives us plenty of room for many more of Esther’s Friends.

When we dream, we dream of fundraising events organized and managed completely by volunteers, weekly prayer meetings right in our conference room, volunteers willing to fill part-time positions needed on our staff, volunteers who act as a liaison between the women in their church and GHM, teams of volunteers to make phone calls to donors – and a woman who leads them in all these efforts as the president of the group.  The possibilities are only limited by the imaginations of the women who are ready to step forward and count themselves among Esther’s Friends.  Are you one of those women?

Bring Uzbekistan Home and Invite Your Friends

Chef Abror and his guest Aziz

HEARTS OVERFLOWING: SHARE THE GHM MISSION IN A FUN, TASTY EVENING

Your Friends Will Be Talking About This For a Long Time

Imagine inviting your friends to enjoy an Uzbek feast prepared by the host of a popular cooking show.  It’s easier than you think!  All you have to do is invite your friends, open up your home for an evening and then enjoy the honor of being the host or hostess of a party your friends will remember and talk about for years to come.

Abror and Umida

The chef will be Abror, the host of Hayot Noni (Bread of Life), GHM’s Uzbek Men’s Testimony and Cooking Show.  Your friends will enjoy delicious dishes from Uzbekistan which have been featured on the show and have the opportunity to chat with Abror and his wife Umida, host of Shukar Aytaman (I Am Thankful), our Uzbek Women’s Program, about their home country, their programs and their lives.

In the past few weeks, a member of our East Texas Network test-drove this concept at her home.  Her guests couldn’t get enough of the food, loved chatting with Umida and Abror, and then learned a little more about GHM’s mission and our needs from CEO/President and Founder, Steve Sharp.  The guests were enthralled by the work of GHM and the only problem was getting everyone to head home.

Is Your Home Next?

If this sounds like an evening you’d like to host, we encourage you to contact us and reserve a date for your very special event.  We promise to help make your event a breeze to host, a joy to attend and a memory you will cherish.

When God Has a Different Idea

DSC_0586HEARTS OVERFLOWING: A CHANGE OF PLANS

Always Listening for God’s Direction

Jeremiah 29:11 promises God has plans to “prosper us…to give hope and a future,” but we have a responsibility to stay close to Him and dependent on His leading.  Thankfully, His plans are always so much better than ours.  A good example was last year’s A Night of Dreams.  We almost cancelled it, but God had other plans.  We searched our hearts and made one relatively minor logistical change.  Almost immediately God confirmed it was the change He wanted.  The evening was our most successful event to date.
Waiting on the Lord has its challenges.  Proverbs 12:5 assures us “the plans of the righteous are just” and in our ministry we must make plans.  We can’t just decide one day to film an episode or two.  The logistical hurdles of a video shoot are mind-boggling, as are plans for an Open Hearts High Tea.

Calendars, Budgets and Other Challenges

The 2016 Open Hearts High Tea was a huge success.  Many of you told us you couldn’t wait until we had another one.  As we set the calendar for 2017 we discussed the next tea, but we didn’t get it right.  Almost immediately we began running into roadblocks, but not before we’d already announced we were looking for table hostesses.

In ministry there are always a few bumps in the road.  Sometimes it’s God testing our faith.  Sometimes it’s Satan trying to discourage us.  We don’t scratch our plans just because something will be hard, but we are alert for His still small voice.

It soon became clear we were running into more than a few roadblocks.  God had his hand on the brake and it didn’t matter how much coal we shoveled into the furnace, the Open Hearts High Tea wasn’t on God’s timetable for April 2017.

If you’ve been praying about being a table hostess for the tea, here’s an answer to your prayer.  Maybe God would prefer you volunteered for the upcoming video shoot March 5-12.  Or maybe you should consider sponsoring a table for A Night of Dreams on November 10th.  The bottom line is this, we can’t do what we do without you, whether you are a prayer partner, volunteer or donor.

Exciting days are ahead.  We’re working on a series of new events for the summer that women will love – and we might even have a tea later in the year, but all that is still in the works.

Join Your Heart to Ours

Sponsoring a table at one of our events is just one of the ways you can partner with Global Heart Ministries to fulfill The Great Commission in this generation. Together we can bring the light and the truth of Jesus Christ right into the living rooms of every deceived child, every oppressed woman, and every hurting home. This is our message. Matching Funds Campaign a Success

cup-holderHEARTS OVERFLOWING: HOW $10K GREW TO $20K AND BEYOND

Looking for Change in the Cup Holder

We’ve all been there.  You’re picking up the dry cleaning or going through the fast food drive-through and suddenly you discover you’re a little short.  It’s not much in the big scheme of things, but you’re a little uncomfortable.  First, you check the cup holder for loose change.  Maybe you look in the glove box or feel around in the bottom of your purse.  In the end, you might have to sheepishly apologize to the clerk and hurry home.

That’s what the last year has been like at Global Heart Ministries.  Time after time a door was opened or an opportunity presented itself, but when we looked into our wallet, we realized we weren’t able to walk through the door or take advantage of the opportunity.  Then we got to the end of the year and realized we’d fallen a little short of our financial goals.

We’re Fine, Really

We’re not complaining.  This last year was an amazing one and we can’t believe how God has blessed us.  We’re so grateful for all the support we receive, through prayer, volunteering and donations.  We know God is providing us with just the amount He wants us to have, but we can’t help yearning for just a little bit more.

Did you know if we could afford to produce the programs to fill it, some of our satellites would double the amount of broadcast time they donate to us?  Did you know we own the rights to a gorgeous animated series, but we can’t afford to dub the voices?  Did you know we could lip-synch dub shows we have already produced into different languages and multiply their audience?  These are just a few of the financial challenges we face every day, knowing there would be so much more we could do, if we just had a little bit more.

How One Donation Encouraged Others

At the end of last year we we were standing at the checkout counter going through our pockets and came up short.  One of our beloved donors called to offer us a loan.  We loved their heart, but in order to keep our financial accreditation we can’t accept loans.  So, they said they’d have to pray about that.

We were very surprised when they called back a short time later and offered $10,000 in a matching funds challenge.  If we could raise $10K, then they’d match it.

This was not some rich philanthropist.  This was just a regular guy with a modest 9-5 job, but he’d been tucking money into his savings from time to time and now he was offering it to us.  We hesitated to accept his offer, but he was adamant; we needed to allow him to be obedient.  His only caveat was anonymity.

How About You?

Does God tug at your heart a little bit when you hear about Central Asia and the Middle East?  Do you wish there was something you could do?  Perhaps there is.

Writing a check is an easy  way to donate, but there are others:

  • Donate appreciated stock.
  • Donate cars, RV’s, boats and other big ticket items.
  • Donate your time and talents as a volunteer.
  • Make in-kind donations for special event silent auctions or to meet current needs, like video equipment, framing, and artistic supplies.
  • Make memorial donations for loved ones or mark special occasions for special people who have a heart for ministry.
  • Talk to the missions committee at your church and suggest they support GHM.
  • Suggest your Sunday School Class, Life Group, or Fellowship Group adopt us as a special project – either for financial support or as volunteers.
  • Invite a group of friends over to your home to hear the GHM story from our founder or one of our TV hosts.
  • Sponsor a table at one of our fundraising events.
  • Create a legacy by including the ministry in your will.

Perhaps you like the idea of a matching funds challenge.  The challenge amount can be offered by an individual, a group or a business.  You can remain anonymous, encourage others by using your name or honor someone else.  We’re only limited by our imagination.

A Desire to Serve

1-8456HEARTS AFLAME: THE DESIRE OF NARMIN’S HEART

Our Sweet Conversations Host

One of the most popular and highly recognizable faces in our ministry is that of Narmin Backus.  She’s the host of Sweet Conversations, our women’s talk show for Azerbaijan, but you don’t have to live in Azerbaijan to love her.  Her sweet smile and vibrant personality warm up any room she walks into.  Whether she’s attending a GHM event or representing us at an international conference, you’ll find an excited crowd around her, wanting to learn more about GHM and what we do.

Narmin’s Mild-Mannered Alter Ego

It would be easy to imagine that when she’s not filming a season of Sweet Conversations or attending an event for GHM, our glamorous host is getting her hair and nails done or lunching with other TV personalities, but that’s not the life of our GHM talent.  While Narmin is paid a modest amount during film shoots, in her off-camera life she works as an Art teacher in Houston, while donating a great portion of her time to GHM as a translator, counselor, and fundraiser.

The desire of her heart is to leave her teaching job and move to the Dallas area to work full-time for GHM.  It’s our desire, too.  We could use her help in a number of areas she is uniquely qualified for, including recruiting, training and managing our Connect counselors, among a long list of other important tasks.  Unfortunately, we need to raise support for her salary before we can make her dreams come true – but you can help.

Pledge Support for Narmin

Did you know you can help bring Narmin to GHM in a full-time capacity?  We’ve already set aside a fund for her employment and you can donate to it by earmarking your donations in “support of Narmin Backus”.  Narmin’s been fundraising in the Houston area for just this purpose and donations are beginning to flow in.  Your donation, marked for Narmin’s support, can make this dream, one we all share, a reality.

The Art of Support

However, there are other ways to support Narmin.  Did you know Narmin is an accomplished artist?  The premise Sweet Conversations is built around Narmin and Tarana discussing Bible stories as Narmin sketches scenes from the stories in her studio.  At the end of each show, a beautiful piece of art is revealed – sometimes an acrylic or oil painting, but also works in charcoal and pastels.  These paintings decorate our office and are displayed at our events.  If you purchase one of these wonderful pieces, the entire amount goes directly to Narmin’s support.  Just give us a call if you’re interested.

Narmin also creates beautiful pieces of wearable art and sells them online.  Narmin devotes all the profit from these sales to supporting her transition to the GHM staff.  Her handcrafted work is unique, lovely and affordable – whether you are buying it to give to someone else or simply as a gift for yourself.  To find out more, go to Narmin’s Art Studio on Facebook and send her a message.

By supporting Narmin, you can partner with Global Heart Ministries to fulfill the Great Commission in this generation. HEARTS OVERFLOWING – OPEN HEARTS HIGH TEA & OUR ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

We Need You

This year GHM will have two major events and for each one we need our wonderful supporters to step forward and help us out.  On Sunday, April 23rd will be our second annual Open Hearts High Tea to recruit members for Esther’s Friends and on Saturday, August 19th we’re having our second Annual General Fundraiser (possibly another A Night of Dreams), which is critical to all of our endeavors.  Both events are major undertakings and our table hosts are one of the most important keys to the success of our events.

What is a Table Host?

A Table Host is someone who is excited about the opportunity to help us share the work and message of GHM with their friends, family, acquaintances, and associates.  This is the primary motivation for stepping up to this task.  If you believe the job GHM is doing in Central Asia and the Middle East is an important one, then you are a prime candidate.  We’re going to work hard to produce a quality event to inform and entertain your guests.  We just need you to invite them, encourage them to attend, and host them at the event.  If you love us, then you have everything you need to be a successful Table Host.

DSC_0586

Open Hearts High Tea

Plans for the Tea are already underway.  In fact, we’ll mail the Save the Date cards out at the end of the month.  We’d like to include your friends on our mailing list, so please let us know you’re interested as soon as possible.

Lori's very elegant table
Lori’s very elegant table

The job is easy and fun.  Here’s the fun part.  Our table hostesses decorate their tables with their own table settings and imagination.  You can use your grandmother’s fine china, a colorful collection of unmatched place settings, your Christmas dinnerware or anything your creativity suggests.  Last year’s tables ran the gamut from very elegant to charmingly whimsical.

The other fun part of your job is inviting your friends to the party.  First, gather up the names and contact information of all the women you think might enjoy the tea – members of your Sunday School Class or Bible Study, friends from church and other organizations, your next door neighbor or best friend from high school.  Tell them all to look for the Save the Date card in the mail and find out who thinks they’ll be able to attend.

dsc_0399The most important part of your job as a hostess is to build excitement among your guests and motivate them to attend the event.  There is no charge for the tea, but we’ll need your help as we confirm your guests’ reservations and arrange their seating around your table.  In some cases, your guests may need suggestions for car-pooling or other logistical issues.

Last year’s tea was an unqualified success and we think this year will be even more fun.  Hostesses will be admitted early to set up their tables and then the doors will open.  The excitement will be contagious.  Our primary purpose of the Tea is to engage the hearts of women to join Esther’s Friends, our women’s volunteer group.

GHM TV Personalities are volunteers
GHM TV Personalities at A Night of Dreams

The August Fundraiser

Table Hosts are just as important for our Fundraiser, but their role is somewhat different, because our purpose is different.  Raising financial support is our primary goal and to be successful we need two things.

First, the cost of the event must be covered so donations received at the evening will go directly to our bottom line.  For this reason, we ask our table host to confirm their sponsorship with a donation covering the cost of the meals at their table.  The cost of hosting a table in 2017 has yet to be determined, but in 2016 table hosts paid $500 for 9 seats, which included a GHM staff member at each table.

dsc_0109Covering our costs is important, but the whole purpose of the event is to fill a room with people who have a desire and an ability to financially support our ministry.   Like the Tea Hostesses, the most important part of your job as a Table Host for our fundraiser is to build excitement among your guests, but we’re asking you to also qualify your guests as possible donors.

Sponsorship at a variety of levels will be available, so as you’re inviting people to attend, if there are those who can’t attend, but would like to participate, there will be opportunities for them, too.

HEARTS OVERFLOWING: LOOKING AHEAD

Let’s Share Some Tea

Celebrating the New Year with family and friends is a tradition throughout Central Asia and the Middle East.  In each home, a gracious hostess pours tea for her guests from a piping hot samovar. In some cultures the tradition is to fill the glass to the brim to show the depth of the home’s hospitality.  In others, a full tea glass would be a rude suggestion to drink your tea and leave, so the hostess would only give you a few sips at time.  Let’s pretend you’ve dropped by for a visit, but you’ll have to pour your own cup of tea.

Sharing Memories

All around the globe, the turn of the year is a time to look back over the past twelve months.  What kind of year was it for you?  We hope it was filled with special memories and a bounty of blessings.

The GHM year was amazing in many respects, thanks to the blessings of our Lord and our generous donors.  Here are a few highlights:

  • Filmed new seasons for our Uzbek Animal Show, Azerbaijani Women’s Talk Show and our Uzbek Men’s Cooking & Testimony Show. (Hayvonot Zamini – Animal World, Sirin Sohbat Sweet Conversations and Hayot Noni – Bread of Life.)
  • Grew the number of satellites broadcasting our programs and doubled the hours of broadcasting.
  • Our Central Asian teaching pastor trained and spiritually supported almost 150 house pastors.
  • Kicked off Connect, a phone & text counseling system to compliment our broadcasts.
  • Hosted the first Open Hearts High Tea, a heartwarming success, and introduced Esther’s Friends, Women Serving God through GHM.  (Men desiring to serve God through GHM are welcomed to join the new Daniel’s Men of Valor.)
  • dsc_0109
    A Night of Dreams

Held our annual Fundraising Gala, A Night of Dreams – truly a dream come true.

  • Traveled thousands of miles to share the Gospel and the story of GHM.  We also had several opportunities to enrich our knowledge of our target region and its people groups.
  • Re-branded our newsletter, The Global Heart Beat, and our e-news, The Pulse.  Began posting two blogs a week on a regular basis and ramped-up other social media interactions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Became an approved charity on Amazon Smile.

Looking Ahead

No New Year’s Celebration would be complete without sharing best wishes for the coming months.  What do you have planned for 2017?  We hope the entire year is a smashing success for you and yours.

Here are a few things we hope to accomplish this year:

  • Film more new seasons beginning in March with our Uzbek Women’s Talk Show (Shukar Aytaman – I Am Thankful).
  • Develop our Connect Counselor Team to include more counselors and more languages.
  • Lip-synch dub our current inventory of Uzbek programs into the Azerbaijani language to widen their audience. (More about this on Thursday.)
  • Translate and dub the movie Shawn into Farsi for broadcast in Iran.
  • Build Partnerships with other ministries operating in our target countries
Open Hearts High Tea

  • Host the next Open Hearts High Tea and an Annual Fundraiser, to grow our volunteer team and expand our budget.
  • We have rights to other projects, like an animated series called Friends and Heroes, we’d like to dub into our target languages, if we get funding.

These dreams only scratch the surface of our hopes for 2017.  We hope you’ll partner with us to make these dreams a reality.

Hannah Beth Roberts – More Than an Executive Assistant

hb-world
Hannah Beth Roberts AKA HB, GHM’s resident miracle worker

HEARTS AFLAME: OUR HB, A WOMAN OF MANY FACETS

Assisting More Than Our Executive

For many, the title “executive assistant” brings up the image of someone at the beck and call of a human powerhouse, devoted to carrying out every demand and acting as a gatekeeper, sort of like Andy in The Devil Wears Prada or Blake in Madame Secretary.

Hannah Beth and Steve hammer out a problem while the talent reviews the script
Hannah Beth and Steve hammer out a problem on the set while the talent reviews the script

While Steve Sharp, our President/CEO & Founder, is certainly a human powerhouse, his executive assistant breaks the stereotype. Hannah Beth or HB (never just Hannah) usually anticipates Steve’s needs before he knows he has them, and this activity accounts for only a portion of her day.  The rest of the time she’s assisting everyone else involved in the ministry, from the staff accountant to our teaching pastor in Central Asia.  If she had the time, she could probably do most of our jobs at least as well as we can – but she’s gracious enough to pretend that’s not so.

A Miracle in the Making

wikipedia's illustration of a grand jete
Wikipedia’s illustration of a Grand Jete’

Trying to explain how Hannah Beth made the Grand Jete’ from an archaeological dig in Central Texas to a ministry devoted to spreading the Gospel in Central Asia via an apartment in Paris, France would take more than one blog.  She’d grown up as a many-times-over PK (preacher’s kid) who just happened to spend as much time in tutus and toe shoes as she did in church pews.  She majored in Anthropology at Baylor University and was two weeks into a temporary position in Tyler, Texas when she “coincidentally” met Steve Sharp.  (Go ahead and catch your breath, the ride has just begun!)

Hannah Beth accepted Christ at the age of 8. There was no great drama in her conversion story.  The miracle has been His faithfulness and constancy – and perhaps the way He’s managed to tie up so many seemingly loose ends into one marvelous testimony.

A Blessing to Global Heart Ministries

hb-at-eiffel
A Semester Abroad

Though her first love was dance, two sets of nomadic grandparents instilled a curiosity for the distant and the faraway in Hannah Beth at an early age.  At Baylor she “discovered there was an entire FIELD dedicated to learning [about] cultures and people different from [herself].”  She didn’t exactly hang up her ballet slippers, but she added a trowel to her dance bag for archaeological field studies and spent her final semester in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

By the time Hannah Beth graduated, she’d already done more living than many of us ever get around to.  Back in the States, she wasn’t sure how to turn all her loves and experiences into a career.  “During a long journey in the spring and summer of 2015, I realized how important this field of Anthropology could be to the Kingdom,” said Hannah Beth.  She “prayed and waited and looked for ways to use [her] skills and passions and talents to bring the gospel to those who are lost and hurting.”

You know how the story turns out.  Hannah Beth loves “getting to work alongside people from all over the world…hearing them speak in their native languages, learning how their culture[s]…are either VERY different or strangely similar…[she] cannot imagine living in the kind of persecution they live with on a daily basis, or the faith it takes to follow God’s instructions in a dream to move to the other side of the globe.  Getting to work alongside these giants of faith is a daily impact.”  For the rest of us, getting to work with Hannah Beth is a blessing.  Here’s a few more shots for you to enjoy.

Something is Coming

If you attended GHM’s exciting event, A Night of Dreams, on October 22, then you know our secret.  If you weren’t there, then we’d like you to be in on it, but it is a secret after all.  What makes all of this so mysterious is that while we’re in on the secret and the secret is going to play an important role in our work in the years to come, it’s not really our secret to share – just yet.

The secret has to do with a very special cache of archaeological artifacts that will amaze the world, but they are not exactly our archeological artifacts.  However, we are very excited to be a part of the team that will be involved in revealing these artifacts to the world.  In fact, if you were at A Night of Dreams, you actually saw a sampling of the artifacts and heard about our role with them.

movie-night-popcorn-clipart-4tbrqeatgAn Introductory Documentary

If you’d like to know more about this mysterious cache of artifacts and what in the world they have to do with GHM, then we invite you to a private screening of a very special introductory documentary – and that’s about all we can say about it here and now.  In fact, we can’t even tell you the name of the video, but once you see it, you’ll never think of the nativity story in exactly the same way.

The video will be presented here at The Hope Center on Friday, November 11 at 7 PM and admission is free, but it is not a public showing.  The number of seats available is extremely limited and many of them have already been reserved by people who attended A Night of Dreams.  We’re sorry, but invitations to this event are only available to persons already known to this ministry.  If you’d like to be included, please request an invitation and we will contact you.  We’re looking for people who are interested in partnering with us in this exciting new project and we’re hoping you’ll be one of them.

Our Vision is No Mystery

While we must be a little mysterious about the artifacts and the documentary, we can assure you that they are directly related to our vision: fulfilling the Great Commission by producing quality Christian programs for satellite broadcast in Central Asia and the Middle East.  This is a thrilling opportunity, but we’ve prayed long and hard about it.  We’re certain you’ll be as enthusiastic as we are when you know more.

A Night of Dreams Afterglow

dsc_0109HEARTS OVERFLOWING: TABLES FULL OF FUN AND FELLOWSHIP

And Then God…

By any measure, A Night of Dreams was a resounding success.  Not that everything went perfectly, of course, but at the end of the night, everything God wanted out of the evening happened.

We’d been working on the event for months, but while it seemed like most things were moving along according to our plans, the small number of reservations had us worried. One week before the event, we actually downsized everything.  We put on our practical hats and looked at things with our human eyes.  We counted the reservations, tailored the scope of the event to fit the number and believed God would bless our efforts – even if the staff and volunteers were going to outnumber the guests.

Then, the floodgates opened.  Our downsized plans had to be up-sized.  We added tables and squeezed in an extra person at each table.  By mid-week, we were re-opening the second conference room to accommodate everyone.  We were thrilled, but we were exhausted!  We’d planned one party over a matter of months.  A week before the event we re-organized it to a much more intimate affair, then God stretched our plans beyond our expectations.

Mid-afternoon on Friday before the party

By early Friday afternoon, A Night of Dreams began to take shape, but we had a long way to go.  Preparations went on into the evening. Saturday morning, GHM staffers and volunteers were back in the room, getting lights and sound equipment set up.  At two, more staffers and volunteers came in for the final touches.

At five p.m., members of the Esther’s Friends Good Works Team arrived and gathered for a brief training session.  Almost immediately, guests began to arrive, even though things were not supposed to kick off until six.  A Night of Dreams had begun!

Turkish Delight

Welcome to A Night of Dreams

Volunteers greeted each guest and guided them to the name tag table.  Next stop was a table covered in platters of Turkish Delight, a real Central Asian/Middle Eastern treat.   From there guests were given a program and urged to check out the items on the Silent Auction and other attractions inside the party.

As guests enjoyed a variety of entertainments, including a Silent Auction and visits with our TV hosts, our celebrity emcee, Jake Pavelka arrived. After a brief visit with our staff, he stepped up on the stage and kicked off the official activities.  During the evening, our guests enjoyed toe-tapping music, cried over tender testimonies and then opened their hearts and pocketbooks to the pressing needs our ministry serves.  The evening was full of even more surprises, mysteries, and excitement, creating an evening we’ll all remember for a long time.
