Always Listening for God’s Direction

Jeremiah 29:11 promises God has plans to “prosper us…to give hope and a future,” but we have a responsibility to stay close to Him and dependent on His leading.  Thankfully, His plans are always so much better than ours.  A good example was last year’s A Night of Dreams.  We almost cancelled it, but God had other plans.  We searched our hearts and made one relatively minor logistical change.  Almost immediately God confirmed it was the change He wanted.  The evening was our most successful event to date.

 Waiting on the Lord has its challenges.  Proverbs 12:5 assures us “the plans of the righteous are just” and in our ministry we must make plans.  We can’t just decide one day to film an episode or two.  The logistical hurdles of a video shoot are mind-boggling, as are plans for an Open Hearts High Tea.

Calendars, Budgets and Other Challenges

The 2016 Open Hearts High Tea was a huge success.  Many of you told us you couldn’t wait until we had another one.  As we set the calendar for 2017 we discussed the next tea, but we didn’t get it right.  Almost immediately we began running into roadblocks, but not before we’d already announced we were looking for table hostesses.

In ministry there are always a few bumps in the road.  Sometimes it’s God testing our faith.  Sometimes it’s Satan trying to discourage us.  We don’t scratch our plans just because something will be hard, but we are alert for His still small voice.

It soon became clear we were running into more than a few roadblocks.  God had his hand on the brake and it didn’t matter how much coal we shoveled into the furnace, the Open Hearts High Tea wasn’t on God’s timetable for April 2017.

If you’ve been praying about being a table hostess for the tea, here’s an answer to your prayer.  Maybe God would prefer you volunteered for the upcoming video shoot March 5-12.  Or maybe you should consider sponsoring a table for A Night of Dreams on November 10th.  The bottom line is this, we can’t do what we do without you, whether you are a prayer partner, volunteer or donor.

 Exciting days are ahead.  We’re working on a series of new events for the summer that women will love – and we might even have a tea later in the year, but all that is still in the works.
