Daniel’s Men of Valor Join Esther’s Friends in Serving GHM

All Hands on Deck!

Volunteers matter at Global Heart Ministries.  From the 135 men serving as home pastors in Central Asia, to the Dallas-area women who fold and stuff our newsletters, GHM depends heavily on volunteers to complete the task God has set before us.

While volunteers have been critical to our mission since day one, several months ago we began an effort to gather our Dallas-area volunteers into organized groups  – ladies first, of course.  Esther’s Friends, our Dallas-area women’s volunteer organization, was introduced earlier this year at the Open Hearts High Tea.  Now, it’s time to extend an invitation to Dallas-area men to join Daniel’s Men of Valor.

Why Daniel?

GHM produces Christian TV programs for Central Asia and the Middle East, so when we discussed forming a group of women devoted to bringing hope to this area, Ancient Persia’s Queen Esther came to mind.  She was willing to sacrifice her life for God’s chosen people.  The women in her court prayed and fasted with her “for such a time as this.” Thus,  Esther’s Friends was born.

When we turned our attention to organizing the men who aid us in our endeavors, Daniel in Ancient Babylon seemed a perfect fit.  Daniel and his friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nigo, faced persecution and death with true valor and faith in God Almighty whom they chose to serve.

In Daniel 6:16, Babylon’s King Darius said to Daniel, “Your God whom you constantly serve will Himself deliver you.”  The king said this because he had observed the unfailing faith of Daniel and his friends.  He had seen, when it was inconvenient, even dangerous, these men would stand with faith for their God.

So now GHM invites you to join with Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nigo as Men of Valor.  We ask you to join our mission to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to Central Asia and the Middle East.  You won’t be thrown into a fiery furnace or be asked to face a den of lions, but we do need you to give us a helping hand, and, at times, it might be inconvenient and hard to fit into your schedule.

1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms,” and that’s just what GHM volunteers do.  They use their gifts to support GHM:

  • Through Prayer – “Devote yourself to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2
  • Through Good Works – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23
  • Through Financial Support – “For God is not so unjust as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints” Hebrews 6:10
