Welcome to the Set of “Hayot Noni”
So imagine a nice, four-bedroom, two-story, three-car-garage home with a pool and outdoor kitchen, on a cul-de-sac, in the suburbs. Add in three video cameras on rolling tripods, a remote camera rigged overhead and various pieces of audio equipment with lights, spots and dozens of cables in the living room. The dining room has been take over by a table for craft services. An extra refrigerator is in the garage, just outside the laundry room. The laundry room and the breakfast room are being used to stage food. An upstairs bedroom is being used for make-up and wardrobe. The office off the living room has become a production room. Throw in a dozen or so folk who are crew and talent.
Now imagine the poor lady and her dog who lived there, and hung out with us during the day. The chaos was very obvious, but it was also organized after a fashion, even if you couldn’t tell by looking.
Fruit Basket Turnover
Our guests for this season of Hayot Noni (or Bread of Life, in English) were Aziz, Bahtiyor, Zafar and Urinbay. They flew into Dallas from Calgary, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Portland on four different airlines. None of them arrived or departed on the same day, with the exception of an arriving and departing flight on one evening, but in separate terminals. The comings and goings felt like an elaborate game of Fruit Basket Turnover, but the shoot was only the beginning of the game. Each guest was a friend of Umida and Abror, our Uzbek TV hosts, so Umida and Abror hosted the whole gaggle of guests in their home.
Call time for talent and make-up was 7:30 AM. Crew arrived at 8. With any luck, by 9 we gathered for a devotional and lots of prayer. Before the day was over, we’d pray a couple of more times.
We’ll share more photos from the shoot on Thursday, so please come back then and enjoy in the excitement.
